The beginnings of our reunion outline
Everyone arrives Friday evening and gets settled in. We will have a hot meal ready for everyone when they arrive. We are thinking of either stews or chili provided by family members and pre-cooked, served with buns. We will bring pies for deserts. At this time we will hand out reunion info and any other info pertinent to the event.
As it stays light late, people can use this time to explore, go out canoeing or fishing, relax around the campfire and visit, or have a game of cards in their cabin.
SATURDAY (All foods today covered by reunion fee)
BREAKFAST
We’ll begin the day with a Grand Slam Breakfast.
Scrambled eggs, sausages, bacon and hash browns.??? We’ll also have those little boxes of cereal, milk and OJ. After all is cleaned up, we’ll begin our day.
:LUNCH
Roast Beef on buns, Cookies or squares
SUPPER
Hamburgers and hot dogs
Potato & Macaroni Salads or baked Pototoes
Deserts
Home-made pies-donated by family members
Watermelon/….?
Smores around campfire for desert
Sunday Breakfast & lunch covered in reunion fee- everyone buys their own supper in Barkerville
Breakfast
Pancakes & sausages or bacon????? We’ll need extension cords to plug in all our grills. Still working on this idea.
LUNCH
We will have buns and cold cuts/ mini bags of chips, & cookies for people to pack a lunch to take to Barkerville. Everyone can purchase their own supper in Barkerville.
I am awaiting a reply from Barkerville for group rates, activities and meals.
(Large eating tent rental $ covered by reunion fees) In case of rain we do need a covered area. I’m looking for a sale on canopies. If anyone has one they can loan us for the reunion, please let us know.
+++ We can reserve canoes/kayaks, but you will have to pay for these individually. The reunion fee would be too high to include boat rentals.
Stay tuned for our next post. We are hoping to nail down a reunion fee cost and are trying to economize as much as possible. We are putting a bit aside each month so we can pay our share without “breaking the bank.”
Activities In The Planning. Everyone does not have to be involved in the planned activities. The goal is for us to have fun doing things together as a family and getting to know each other better. We need lots of photographers snapping shots thru’out the reunion for our Shaw Family Reunion 2010 keepsake Storybook and Shaw Reunion 2010 DVD
Small Children: We will allow lots of free time, but we will also plan lots of fun activities. We will need lots of help running these games & activities.
Crafts table set up with activities for boys & girls

Our Day Trip To Bowron Lake
There are unlimited camp sites both along the lake front and along the river in the camp-ground. They have sani dumps and water, but no electrical hook-ups. The campsites are huge, even big enough for Theresa’s 5th wheeler. We don’t need to put any deposits down until next year. We just need to keep in touch and let them know how many cabins/campsites we need.
We are looking into renting a huge tent for setting up for eating, and in case of rain.
We would like to now ask for everyone who plans on attending for their input. We are looking for activity ideas for both young and old, game ideas for young children and adults, and food ideas. We can rent canoes and kayaks at the resort. We will use the best and most affordable of everyone’s ideas.
We are also planning an afternoon/evening trip to Barkerville. We will post a link to Barkerville’s Website so everyone can see the many activities it offers. We are trying to get a discount on a group entry rate for the entire family. We will keep you posted.
As this is such a big undertaking, we would like to ask everyone to help out. Everyone should help in one meal preparation and one clean-up. This way no one person is burdened with doing everything.
We are very excited about being together for this Shaw Family Reunion long weekend and the opportunity for us all to build strong bonds of love with our entire family. We can make new memories to last a lifetime. We will be taking lots of pictures and making movies. Please put a priority on attending. We have given everyone over 14 months to arrange their schedules. If you can’t attend the entire reunion, come for whatever part you can.
Thanks so much for those who have already replied. Please email me at: ajknudsen5@gmail.com with any of your ideas, and input. This reunion is for us all, so don’t hesitate to share your ideas.
Stay tuned for our next update.

Change in Plans
After a lot of thought, we decided that it would be more exciting if the Shaw Clan met in a new location with lots of activities for everyone! So, without further adieu we announce that the Shaw Family Reunion 2010 will be held at the Bowron Lake Lodge & Resort. There will be no complaints as it took us 2 whole months of researching to find a location that could accommodate us.
